Recine Annunziata (Nancy) Cortina Recine, 87

Recine Annunziata (Nancy) Cortina Recine, 87, wife of the late Alberto Recine died peacefully on Jan. 8. Daughter of the late Benedetto Cortina and Maria Faustine Cortina, she was born on Oct. 10, 1925 in Ripi, Frosinone, Italy.

After migrating to the U.S. in 1955, Ms. Recine settled in Bridgeport and was a longtime employee at Ann’s Bakery and Wiretex Manufacturing. Post-retirement she lived in Monroe and was a member of St. Jude Church.

Throughout her life, Ms. Recine enjoyed many activities such as gardening, sewing and playing pinochle. However, her greatest passions were cooking/baking and family. Sundays brought out the best in her as family gathered around the dinner table to enjoy her homemade pasta and endless other “side dishes,” according to the family.

She will be missed by her children: Natalino and Nancy Recine of Monroe, Marisa and Salvatore Guerrera of Milford, and Lucy and William Hanson of Easton. She is also survived by grandchildren Peter Recine, Paul Recine and wife, Christine, Gina Andersen and husband, Brendan, Michael Guerrera and wife, Patricia, Lisa Monahan and husband, Shaun, Robert Guerrera and wife, Erica, Christopher Hanson and fiancé Nicole Bozek, Ryan Hanson, and Matthew Hanson.

Others left to mourn her loss include a brother, Julio Cortina, two sisters, Mary Picarazzi and Frances McCarthy, and 13 great-grandchildren: Amber, Celina, Nicholas, Conor, Alana, Bella, Colin, Tyler, Abriana, Andrew, and Anthony.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Lino, Phillip, and Rocco Cortina, and a sister, Viola Cortina.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Monroe, with entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull. Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home, Monroe, handled arrangements.
