The Easton Arts Council celebrates National Youth Art Month with a Youth Art Show, Youth Talent Show and Young Writers Competition.
An awards & recognition reception will be held for artists, performers and writers March 10, at 4 p.m. following the talent show.
Easton Arts Council membership (family $25 or youth $5) is required for all participants.

Young Writers Competition:
For students residing in Easton, Redding, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield, Westport & Weston; Feb. 18, Submissions deadline. Your most memorable “Hometown Experience,” real or imagined: Prose, poetry, play or screenplay. Three Levels of Competition: Elementary school, grades 3-5 Middle school, grades 6-8, High school, grades 9-12
One $25 prize winner will be awarded at each level. Entries will be evaluated on originality, quality of writing and interpretation of theme. Typed manuscripts, 5 pages maximum, will be accepted. Submission deadline is Feb. 18

Entries will be judged by award-winning authors Elise Broach, Verne Gay and Karen Thorsen. Winning submissions will be announced on March 4 and read aloud by the winners at the Easton Arts Council Youth Art & Talent Show, March 10.
Youth Art Show:
March 1 – 31; Receiving: Feb. 23 from noon to 2 p.m. Artwork must be in frames, wired and ready to hang (no saw tooth hangers please.) Photography and sculpture also accepted.

Youth Talent Show:
March 10, 2 p.m., Easton Public Library Community Room, 691 Morehouse Road,
Any type of appropriate act is acceptable: instrumental, vocal (no lip synching), dance, acting, etc. Acts must be four minutes or less. Piano is available. Singers must bring their own accompanist or CD.
• Registration deadline: Feb. 22
• Audition: Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m.
• Dress rehearsal: Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m.
