On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will speak at the March for Change rally at the State Capitol.
A busload of Easton residents will also be attending the march, along with supporters of “rational, common sense” gun laws from around the state, and families of victims of the Dec. 14 school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy will speak at the One Billion Rising event in Hartford, which is part of a global event calling on one billion women and allies to demand an end to violence against women. The event is hosted by the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Planned Parenthood.
Later, Governor Malloy will hold a news conference at the State Capitol to announce a major nomination.
In the evening, Governor Malloy, Lt. Governor Wyman, and First Lady Cathy Malloy will attend the grand opening of HealingNewtown Art Space, a project of the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission focused on providing a space for families and children to heal through the arts.
