The Fairfield County Sports Commission has named the Joel Barlow High varsity softball team as Sportspersons of the Year for 2015. The Falcons, who posted a 17-7 overall record this past spring and were South-West Conference runners-up and recipients of the award from other towns in Fairfield County, will be honored at the 11th Annual Sports Night dinner on Monday, Oct. 19, at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich.

Robert Morton, third from right,  helped win gold medals in two events at the USRowing Masters Nationals on Aug. 13 in Camden N.J. Competing for the New Haven Rowing Club based in Oxford, Morton was in the men’s open 8+  and men’s club 8+ boats in category I, in which crew members average between 75 and 80 years old.
