Easton Baseball League will once again run winter clinic sessions to help prepare Easton children for the spring baseball season. Clinics will structured according to division/age group. T-ball is for boys and girls in kindergarten, pre-kindergarten and age-eligible (must turn four by May 1). Clinics will be held Sunday afternoons from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Samuel Staples Elementary School gym for five weeks beginning Feb. 4 through March 11 with no clinic on Feb. 19. The cost is $50. Weston’s Play Ball For All will offer its next hot stove youth baseball clinic on Sunday, Jan. 28. In partnership with The Factory training center of Norwalk, the clinic will host more than 20 youth from the Child Guidance Center of mid-Fairfield County in Norwalk. Play Ball For All’s mission is to bring the game of baseball to underserved youth from surrounding communities. The Boys and Girls Club of Redding-Easton’s eighth grade field hockey team took first place at its league Jamboree on Nov. 4 in New Fairfield. The Easton-Redding United under-11 girls won the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Southwest District championship on Nov. 12 by defeating New Canaan 2-1. The girls had qualified for the playoffs and were the top seed after an undefeated regular season. They secured a spot in the championship game after defeating Stamford in a dramatic 3-2 overtime win a day earlier. The Southern Stars midget minor under-16 ice hockey team defeated Hamden 6-2 to win the Tier 2 Connecticut State Championship on Oct. 9. Weston High School junior, Travis Nussbaum is a member of the team, which is ranked 3rd overall in the nation. Coached by Eric Roos and Rick Beckwith, the team is comprised of players from across Connecticut and New York. This is the sixth consecutive trip to nationals for the pair of coaches.
