Borge Nielsen, 82, of Easton, CT, passed away on January 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Randers, Denmark to the late Soren C. and Anna M. Nielsen, Borge was educated in Denmark and attended the Copenhagen School of Economics and Business Administration before coming to the United States in 1954.
Early in his career, Borge was both a principal sales representative and a direct importer for numerous lines of Scandinavian gift and houseware products. For nearly 40 years, he was an independent representative for Caspari Inc. He also created a chain of Scandinavian furniture stores in Connecticut and New York. His entrepreneurial and adventuresome spirit allowed him to travel all over the world to explore new ideas and meet many people.
He had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature, art, music, and literature, his family said. He always seemed to find the humor in life, but most important to him was the love of his family.
Mr. Nielsen is survived by his wife, Lisa B. Nielsen; son Peter and daughter-in-law Claudia of Easton; daughter Kirsten and son-in-law Donald T. Weed of Miami, Fla; grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, and Tucker; and a niece Anne-Marie Mikkelsen of Assedrup, Denmark. He was predeceased by his sister, Else Mikkelsen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Easton Congregational Church, 336 Westport Road in Easton. Interment will be private.
